During our November floor session, I strongly opposed Republican legislation that threatens to close our public schools. Our students and communities deserve investment, so I voted no to protect our classrooms, our teachers, and our kids.

Students deserve opportunity, not exploitation. Our legislative package holds predatory for-profit colleges accountable and protects students from abuse. Grateful for Rep. Clancy, Rep. DeSmidt, and Sen. Larson for their leadership.

Today we remember the Waukesha Christmas Parade tragedy, four years later. I’m holding in my heart the lives lost, the victims and families who continue to bear this grief, the first responders who served with bravery, and the entire community still working to heal. We honor them today and always.

Proud to be a lead author on legislation that supports our veterans and provides them with the resources they need to live and thrive. Our bills strengthen mental health care, expand housing and outreach services, honor and recognize our veterans, and work to bring our MIA heroes home.

Today I joined my colleagues from both sides of the aisle in urging FEMA to approve Wisconsin’s disaster assistance appeal. Communities across southeastern Wisconsin, including right here in the 14th District, suffered devastating flood damage this year and cannot recover alone.

Trump’s reckless shutdown is taking food away from families and putting people’s health and livelihoods on the line. This is cruelty, not leadership. In the wealthiest country in the world, no one should go hungry and no one should go without health care.
