Although disappointing, we are grateful to have had the chance to present STAR Voting to the commission and share more about voting science. They recommended we try again in the future. The quest continues!

After several months, the Los Angeles Charter Commission has decided not to pursue STAR Voting as a reform at this time, citing the fact that it is a relatively new innovation. We are super grateful to our amazing LA chapter volunteers who worked incredibly hard on this!

Volunteers recently got together in Portland to fold and staple STAR Voting minizines. Big thank you to the volunteers!

These zines are a great way to spread the word about STAR Voting at events, while tabling, while canvassing, or any time!

That lets the race be more about the candidate's ideas. Cuomo would be able to focus more on courting Sliwa voters to get a higher score, rather than pressuring Sliwa to drop out.
October 23, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Under STAR Voting, many candidates could run without fear of vote splitting, AND it wuld be safe for voters to show their honest preferences. Republicans could give Sliwa 5 stars, and still have their full vote go to their compromise choice if Sliwa doesn't make the runoff.
October 23, 2025 at 7:51 PM
In New York it's unclear if a Sliwa drop out would be enough to give Cuomo the win, but it would make the race a lot tighter.
October 23, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Choose One has a problem called Vote Splitting. If 2 candidates share the same voters, then they will split the vote and reduce their chances of winning.
