Honestly, a simple guide to making the jump would be super neat!

All the stuff I've seen presumes you've planned to teach since you were born.

One I picked up from video game designers is "Keep The Scope In Mind."

Like, telling someone working on a 2-player game to add a 4-player mode, while maybe more appealing to you personally, doesn't help them refine the game they're working on.

Get an urge to play a TTRPG?

Before you can play, you've got to spend a few weeks finding people, organizing your schedules, deciding where you're going to play, and getting everything set up before you can even think about actually playing the game.

This is the one advantage video games have over TTRPGs - you can start them on impulse.

Want to play a video game? You buy it, install it, turn it on and wait for it to match you with people - you're playing in under an hour.

While there are ways to overcome this (like LFG on Reddit) these require a lot of active effort to find groups and/or players who fit your schedule and play style.

Plus, many people don't like the idea of playing a game with an absolute stranger.

Finding people.

Most of the famous gateway TTRPGs are designed for groups.

Finding 2-4 people who want to play the same game and have the same availability can be really tough, especially if you lack a large social circle.
