In Japan now for Tokyo Game Show. Throwing a party called Video Game Prom with some friends 💙

An example of why you never ever rely on any 3rd party to do the work for you. Market your own games!

Doesn't matter if it's a publisher or platform. no one cares about your game as much as you do

9 months after its 1.0 launch flopped, an indie dev just learned that Steam never emailed the 130,000 people who wishlisted its game
Planet Centauri suffered a bug that's affected less than 100 game releases since 2015.

Indie devs -- there is nothing for you to learn about the success or launch of Silksong. Do not try to extrapolate from extreme outliers and then think you can follow some predetermined formula for success. It doesn't exist. It didn't exist for that team the first time around either. Stop it.

It's been a while.

Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.

Situations like this are part of why I quit doing marketing consultations. Some devs ignore all reasonable advice and do whatever they want. They think they're are the exception and can get away with it 🙄

Later, they even apologize for not listening to me. Thinking I was personally attacking them 😮‍💨
meanwhile I'm patiently explaining how not to do game marketing to them

In Paris I see people hanging out in the evenings, going to cheap art galleries, valuing fashion, enjoying food and talking about ideas. Meanwhile in the US we're devising "hacks" to not engage with art, ingest the bare minimum to live, and become the most efficient personality-free drones possible.

When writing a visual novel or RPG is there any good software to keep track of the story?

Indies have been doing “solo dev who’s not really solo” for a long time. There was a period of time where articles about auteurs were THE thing.

We’re a core team of 11 right now.

Roughly 100 people had hands on Bugsnax including us and we thanked about 200 others in the credits as well.

I usually don't have much luck getting feedback, but would really appreciate it! I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to animation. #animation #2d #indiedev #gamedev
any animators out there? 🙏
