Good analogy. The high-and-dry people of affluence notice nothing or are getting what they want. The people on the "bottom" - the majority - are drowning in ICE and a sea of restrictions, fear, and increased poverty, even if many don't or won't see it yet.

I was guest editor for a major journal that charges - I was expected to turn around reviewer selection in 2 days, reviews in 2 weeks, decision in 1 week; holidays and nights included. All gratis. Their paid staff only worked 4-5 day weeks and were not easily available for help. Never again.
