Yeah, feels off-putting to me. It’s a kind thing to do for the shooter’s family…but the victims’ GFMs haven’t even reached their goals yet.

I think you’re correct, and I bet the mechanism through which it works neurologically is revenge. The Hidden Brain podcast did a fantastic episode about it recently, and I think it explains an enormous amount of right-wing politics at the moment.
