I love the fact TVs and hifis had to be ' hidden' in old style furniture. Shades of the dear old radiogram ! First TV I remember us having was a bakelite one similar to your pic, but without the big speaker!

I'm genuinely fascinated by Japanese movies like this, but they probably aren't that easy to get hold of...or cheap!

It's much more challenging to create atmosphere and menace. I avoid anything that includes a fascination with torture, pain and dismemberment.
