🔥 😷 🌀 New report from @nationalacademies.org details strongest evidence to date that man-made ghg emissions cause significant harm to human health and wellbeing. CIGH Director Michele Barry served as one of the 16 members of the committee that produced the report.

She underscored destruction of the Amazon as "the most dangerous thing happening to our climate and health" as it both pushes livestock and humans into natural systems where they interact with new pathogens, and is it destroys ecosystems that contribute to the planet's resilience.

This week brought significant developments regarding bird flu. These include the first severe case of H5N1 in the US (from a different strain than that circulating in cows) & Gov. Newsom's proactive declaration of a state of emergency in light of more cases being detected in California dairy cows.
