that and everyone has this notion that if they talk to a therapist about being suicidal or something at all, they'll get hauled off to grippy sock land. people joke about this but it's mostly just not true, you only get that in very specific circumstances

for that, yeah honestly. people think mental illness looks like depression and anxiety bc they mostly don't interact with people with more severe mental illness, so they assume everyone in the psych ward is just a little sad maybe and not manic and psychotic

I pay a flat monthly rate (I'm on disability) and it's based on my usage for the last year, however it went from $71 to $90 suddenly despite having more efficient heating and cooling (supposedly) and they make it difficult to figure out if/when they raised price or like how much I used vs last year

it really is more akin to a vacation than a jail, in my experience. I've never been to jail but I gotta imagine it's nothing like that. felt pretty much like when I got bottom surgery and had to stay there for several days, couldn't leave, but that's it

much like the prison abolition movement, "the alternative" involves a lot of fundamental reform of society and the way things are done, new organizations and procedures, etc etc

I mean I do strongly believe that involuntary psych holds mostly only make things worse for ppl and should be rare, if they exist at all, but that's just not what a psych ward looks like anymore

I think ppl believe that all inpatient psych care is involuntary and I involves some kind of horrific cuckoo's nest-like tale of institutional abuse. reality is these days it's often voluntary and generally quite safe, but we are saturated with tales of haunted asylums etc etc

I can see how, but I didn't even discover stuff like hypno until rather recently, much less the sissy/forcefem variety that seems common with ABDL fiction. I was a piss and shit FIEND in my younger years, diaper or no, so I mostly just stuck to that lol

I never engaged with any specifically trans things until after I transitioned lol
