BTW, I can probably recite the "Medicare for All" bill in my sleep. So go on. Explain it to me like I'm five.

Go on. Explain to a person who covered and edited healthcare and science news for *checks notes* 25 years the bill that will never pass.

This is why we use words correctly. And we don't, say, recycle a name of a program to make it mean something else.

Explaining things that should be obvious if one uses reading skills (like, we're talking about words, meanings, connotations), is more than I owe you, the internet, anyone.

I am going to go be with my friends and family. And take a day off.

You obviously missed the point.

I'm saying, calling it Medicare for All is a bad thing. Medicare carries conota—

No. Ya know what? It's the damn holiday season. I'm not gonna.

Were they poorly worded questions or were they intended more as "Do you trust the news you personally watch/read," rather than "all news even the ones you don't watch/read?" Hmmm, I'm not a pollster, but I certainly might have worded better questions. Or asked additional questions.

(Sorry, this reply is taking me longer because I'm listening to my mother on the other end of the phone and her repeat questions.)

No disrespect to @liberalcurrents.com meant. (Though major disrespect to some of the newsletters I've seen.) I read Currents and I'm happy to hear it's going more formal. (P.S., if Currents needs accessibility training... see me!)

We focus on accessibility in journalism. Accessibility isn't sexy. It takes a lot to explain what accessibility means. Journalists and journalism resists accessibility, ranks low in web accessibility, and doesn't do it well. So raising funds and getting grants is hard.
November 25, 2025 at 4:48 PM
You're neither the first "startup fund" nor last to raise $40k on here. I can rattle off six that I've seen in the last two years (mostly newsletters). Whatever you want to call it is fine. I run a nonprofit that has had a terrible time raising funds on here.

Anyway, hey people donating $40k to @liberalcurrents.com start-up fund. While you're throwing around money, @equalaccesspublicmedia.org makes journalism more accessible to people with disabilities through training, and resources. We need funding, too! www.equalaccesspublicmedia.org/support-us/

(I did this instead of writing an article. It's called, um, active procrastination.)

This made me snort laugh. TY.

Sara, they say there's no such thing as bad press.

Also, maybe this is the Streisand Effect for autism...? Then again, autism moms.

Karen, thank you for bringing this into my world this morning. And for all the alt text.
