My grandfather was a newspaperman; I miss him and his stories, but I'm also glad he's no longer here to see what's become of the press.

The press had no problem whipping their readers into murderous frenzies in the early 1860s. It was a rare local publisher who was more interested in printing fact than selling papers and most of the country were info siloed by the shipping cost of out of market press.

I don't understand why any of them went into Journalism, since most of the WH press pool are nothing more seals trained to bark and clap their flippers hoping to be tossed a fish.

Maybe Charles Jr, since I doubt Mr Munger Sr could have forseen Prop 50 and added a proviso in his will to stop it. (His date of death: Nov 28, 2023)

I called some of those people family. Now they are fellow humans, nothing more than that. This feels so much worse than I imagine living in the early 1860's felt. Woodward used the term "cold Civil War."
