The whole idea is that they can engineer people to be "better" but humans are terrible at identifying what makes a better person. Even if we did, we don't know what complex combinations of genes/environment it takes to produce those traits. The best they could do is make sure your kid is tall.

It's already happening. Multiple women have been harassed in bathrooms (at least one in the Boston airport and another in a Buffalo Wild Wings, IIRC), plus a Utah politician making a whole thing about a tall teenage girl being trans. Women thinking this is a feminist position is just wild.

Only tangentially related, but while I was doing a bookstore signing a few weeks ago, a group of teenaged boys stopped at the front table and admired the cover design on Bel Canto.

Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

I read Jane Friedman's interview with one of the survey creators, and what I came away with was how profoundly pro-AI biased he was. He called anyone who was against it "ignorant" and "scared" and seemed convinced that those were the only reasons to be opposed. So I have questions about this survey.
