Okay, but, like, five hours ago, you said ironic fascism was bad, and we should take the Nazi stuff in the MAGA group chat seriously. So now we're not supposed to Nazi shit seriously?

I keep seeing "Book of Wisdom" stuff. All the time

I still screw up, but sometimes I'll say "absurd" or "obtuse" instead

The Constitution is of the people, by the people, and for the people. They are against the people. Calling them anti-constitutionalists reminds you of that every day, and reveals it to others too.

Stay safe our there. And remember to take care of yourselves, and take care of each other.

They can't install their dictatorship if they're concerned about what is "constitutional." Their goal is to get rid of it. This is what they ran on. We need to call them what they are: anti-constitutionalist. Doing so reminds people to treat them as such.

Do not treat their actions as ignorance, incompetence, or stupidity, even if they ARE made out of ignorance, incompetence, and stupidity. They will always keep committing to such actions until they break through. Whatever they they need to believe to win, they will give the appearance of believing

They know they're going against the Constitution. They know they're lying. They know they're being cruel. All of that is the point. Treat their disregard, subversions, lies and actions as though they are shameless and intentional until proven otherwise. Do not give them the benefit of the doubt

They keep revealing themselves to be bad faith actors, and we keep treating them as though they come in good faith. They continuously exploit our desire to believe they come in good faith. This is the equivalent of Charlie Brown believing Lucy will let him kick the ball for real this time
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
They are Machiavellian. The ends justify the means. If they must lie, to obtain their goals they will. If they must exploit the good faith of others to obtain their goals, they will. If they must use the rhetoric of populism to obtain their goals, they will

It is not their fault you believed them when they said they cared about "democracy" "free speech" "due process" or other constitutional values. That denizens believed these reactionaries were acting in good faith is a failing on our part
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
They are also not hypocrites. They ran and sought power in a democratic society by exploiting our beliefs in these values. They promised to uphold democratic values such as 'democracy" "free speech" and "due process" while crossing their fingers behind their back
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
And most of them pushing it are educated, have learned many of the same things you've learned, but believe our democratic and constitutional tenets are a terrible way to organize society You believe in equality and progress. They don't. You believe in freedom. They don't (at least not for you)
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
They are not misguided. They haven't been tricked. They won't snap out of it if only they knew what you knew. You have to start treating them as though they have agency and are making decisions rather than just being ignorant and stupid. This is their worldview
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
That is why any time you point out they're breaking the rules or being "unconstitutional" they either deny it, talk past it or point out the President SHOULD be allowed to do these things (or all three). They are revealing their beliefs. We should take those beliefs seriously
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
It is not about how the world IS to reactionaries, it is about how it SHOULD be. And they are acting in accordance with how they believe things SHOULD be. That they behave so confidently in this manner reveals the degree to which they believe they'll be successful
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Calling them out for breaking the rules rather than pointing out the motivations and ideological tenets behind these violations is irresponsible
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
They were elected to usher in a dictatorship, and they are behaving as such. A dictator and his followers do not abide by "the rules." Especially rules which they don't subscribe to. The rules are for you, not them
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Republicans no longer agree to the terms and conditions of the Constitution. They're reactionaries now. The rules of a constitutional republic no longer matter to them. They have rejected them
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Telling Republicans and this administration that something is "unconstitutional" is like telling someone in a restaurant they aren't allowed to smoke inside while they're using the "no smoking" sign as an ash tray. They know. They just don't care. And they are unashamed
May 12, 2025 at 9:07 PM
The entire purpose of 47's administration is to be anti-constitutionalist. They were elected to destroy and dismantle our current systems and institutions and put an authoritarian dictatorship in its place (or rather, a corporate monarchy)
