Our work involved comparative genomics of neglected pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei. This is my first paper in bacterial genomics, with focus on variant analysis and orthologous protein clusters. Glad to be a part of the team..

what are the best (and worst) things that happened this year for you..?

release of arrears by ICMR (though 2 months stipend is still pending 😅),

crossing 50+ citations for my papers, applied for > 200 positions abroad (with no luck),

job in a comp bio lab (grateful for the oppurtunity by Debarka Sengupta ) (=> learning lots about ML, DL and comp bio),

first genomics paper being communicated (10 months into peer review😒),

While pangenomes are a good way to go..don't we increase too much data for a supposed "reference" genome? I would rather work with best draft genome (based on ancestry) and try to identify snps from 100k databases..thoughts??
