I actually AM a code guy and could not get my head around the intricacies of mastodon without putting more time into it than I was willing, not surprised in the slightest that people weren't will to deal with it. Honestly I don't even use it anymore, there's just nothing there.

The trick is to have no idea what's going on at any given time.

I'm just cautious because I got burned with a week ban during the 'everything is a minor' phase so I'm very wary.

Look into their content guidelines before you consider giving them money and make sure it jives with your own views.

They have improved greatly recently but that is after a HUGE backlash and months of controversy.
