Yoongi opens his mouth to respond, or maybe just to kiss him, when suddenly someone knocks into him from behind. His forehead collides painfully against Yijeong’s, and they both groan, heads in their hands. “Oh my god,” a voice says. “I’m so sorry, I’m not usually this clumsy–” The voice sparks a memory in Yoongi, something unmistakably familiar, and he turns around and finds himself face-to-face with Kim Soojin. It’s been, what, five years–but it’s still undeniably her. The high ponytail she had sported during their road trip is gone, her hair now cut short in a neat bob ending at her chin, but otherwise, Soojin looks exactly the same. She’s wearing an oversized pink cardigan and skinny jeans, and she’s flushed almost the same color as her sweater, staring at him with wide eyes, carry-on tipped over beside her. They blink at one another in disbelief. “Uh, guys,” Yoongi hears Yijeong say in English over the rushing in his ears. “I think you’re holding up the line.”

Yoongi pulls out his phone, scrolling a bit, then tapping at the keyboard. Soojin keeps sneaking glances at him despite herself. He’s looking down and smiling. “Is that Tessa?” Soojin says, her tone just on the edge of teasing. “Oh,” Yoongi says, looking up, slight surprise on his face. “Uh–no. It’s–someone else.” Soojin mock gasps. “It’s barely been 3 hours, Yoongi-ssi!” “Tessa and I are friends!” he protests, putting his hands up in surrender. “That was a one time thing! And before you say anything”–he points a finger at her–“we both agreed to it.” “Oh, sure,” Soojin says. “‘Friends.’” She lifts one hand off the wheel to put air quotes around the word. Don’t say it like that,” Yoongi says, pouting. “I mean it! There are no feelings there, trust me. It was just for fun on our last night.” “Okay,” says Soojin. “I just don’t know any friends with benefits that were actually able to stay that way without either imploding dramatically or, you know, actually getting together.” Yoongi scoffs. “Oh really?” “I just think that guys and girls can’t really ever be just friends, okay?” Soojin says, feeling the need to win this argument even though she doesn’t even feel that strongly about it–something about Yoongi and his quiet confidence is getting under her skin. “The sex part always gets in the way,” she adds. “If the possibility is there, it’s impossible to ignore. You can say there are no strings attached but there are always strings. It’s inevitable.” “You know, I think that’s bullshit, actually,” Yoongi says conversationally. He’s pulled his knees up to his chest, and is absently tapping his fingers on them. “The whole ‘men and women can’t be friends’ thing. It’s just– it’s so fucking heteronormative. Like, if you follow that logic, bisexuals can’t be friends with anyone. Which, once again, is bullshit.” Soojin blinks, surprised at the direction the conversation has taken. “Well, how would you know?” Yoongi turns fully toward her, and she can see that his mouth has flattened into a bracket. He jerks a thumb at himself, nonplussed. “Oh,” Soojin says, understanding dawning on her. “Oh!” “Yeah,” Yoongi says, baring his teeth in a little grimace. Fuck. Soojin should have known better. She’s supposed to be an ally, for god’s sake. “I’m sorry,” Soojin blurts out. “I didn’t think–I wasn’t–” “It’s fine, Soojin-ssi,” Yoongi says, waving a hand. “No, it’s not,” Soojin insists, huffing. She takes a deep breath. “I’m sorry. I made assumptions.” She sneaks a glance at Yoongi, and he has a small smile on his face. “And you know what they say!” she presses on. “When you assume–” “You really don’t have to say it–” “–you make an ass out of ‘u’ and ‘me’!” Yoongi’s smile has spread fully over his face, his gums peeking out. “Please stop.”

saw svt last night and they were an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT (I LOVE THEM I MUST BECOME A CARAT NOW) and then got up before 5am to watch jin and then we have kid halloween tonight and then tomorrow morning jin getting up before 5am for jin AGAIN my brain is BUZZING god I feel alive!!!!!!!!

“You’re such a fucking idiot,” Hoosok says as soon as Yoongi picks up. “What the hell, Sook-ah?” Yoongi says, holding the phone away from his face to gawp at it, even though Hosook can’t see. “I’m sorry, oppa,” he hears Tahee call in the background. “But she’s right.” “Way to kick a guy when he’s down,” Yoongi mutters. “You’re so predictable,” Hosook says with disdain. “Your best friend is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, and she’s cool as fuck, and she’s clearly in love with you even though you’re a fucking idiot. But instead of locking that shit down you’re losing her because you’re letting your fucking commitment issues get in the way.” “Ugh, men,” Taehee scoffs in the background. “Men!” Hosook echoes. “It’s New Year’s Eve. You should be going after her, begging for forgiveness, but I bet you’re watching Tazza for the hundredth time right now.” “Hey!” Yoongi says. “Tazza is a classic!” “I bet you’re holding your emotional support basketball while you’re watching your emotional support bro movie.” Yoongi looks down at where he’s clutching his plush basketball and scowls. He won’t give her the satisfaction of confirmation, but he tosses it at the hoop hanging over the living room entryway. He misses. “I bet you’re going to pick something American next,” Hosook continues, tone scathing. “Probably Scarface. Or Boondock Saints.” He can practically hear her shudder in horror. “These are all good movies! Leave me alone!” “Never,” Hosook says.

"Hobah, you woke me from my nap; this better be good." Hoseok rolls his eyes, grin pulling at the corners of his lips. "Yoongi. You're always napping." He steps closer, carefully dodging low-hanging tree branches. Yoongi cracks his neck, rolls his shoulders; it sends a burst of blue petals fluttering in the air. It's far from the first time Hoseok has seen Yoongi in this state - eyes still drooping with sleep, pink lips pursed on just this side of a pout, soft - and yet, he feels a rush of warm affection toward him as he stretches his legs, pale toes wiggling in the grass. "I'm a forest spirit," Yoongi says, yawning. "The forest is peaceful; this is my natural state." "The other forest spirits can't possibly be this sleepy," says Hoseok. "And how many other forest spirits have you met?" Yoongi shoots back, eyebrow raised. Hoseok presses his lips together, trying not to giggle. "Hm. I thought so."

4. I have come up with the frame story for a Christmas Carol namgi au that I definitely want to write someday but will not have time to do so in time for the holiday season this year - but next year!!!!!! oh next year!!!! I even have possible titles picked out, taken from quotes from the book lol

okay so I don't keep my deleted stuff bc usually I'm like THIS IS SO CHEESY/CRINGE NO ONE CAN EVER SEE THIS lol, but as a replacement I offer the very first bit of bangtan fic I ever wrote that never made it into an actual story (the first words of any kind of fic that I had written in 15 years!!!)
In the earliest days, when they're still all fire and spite, when their eyes ache from lack of sleep and muscles ache from *pushing and pushing and pushing*, when it feels like a neverending fever dream or a nightmare or a joint hallucination - in those days, Yoongi walks. When he's not working one of his mishmash of odd jobs, or trying to keep track of his files on the virus-ridden computer in the shared studio, or dancing until his feet feel like they're gonna fall off, or listening to some speech by a sunbae about how technically you could date, but why would you want to do *that* - he walks through Seoul. He steps through 3am pools of streetlight glow, stares at the fluorescent brightness of the GS25 until his eyes cross. Runs a hand through his greasy hair and thinks, *Get through one more day. Tomorrow. Then tomorrow.*
