Elizabeth Taylor: Shiny and glam and boring and empty. Weirdly so, considering what a great storyteller TSwift is.
In Clara Bow, the invocation of past icons is in vivid service of the story. But this is just shouting “Elizabeth Taylor” every so often in the middle of a parade of glitzy references?

I don’t think she’s dumb at all, I think she’s frighteningly quick-witted. She lies her face off every time she opens her mouth, but she’s not dumb. Which means she knows what she’s doing.
