I remember thinking Black Sails was a forward thinking show for its brief instances of dudity. Only seems fair.

The attitude here in Arkansas seems to be, “the sun’ll take care of it.” And the one snow plow employed only succeeding in removing mail boxes.

What would help in said “battle,” is if news outlets actually labeled lies appropriately. There’s isn’t a struggle between video evidence and the government’s interpretation. The government is lying, and you should say so.

Why is the Treasury Secretary constantly weighing in on issues that don’t concern his job? More importantly, why do the media keep asking him questions every Sunday morning?

I read through Seneca’s letters on ethics last year and found it so helpful, and entertaining. This year, I’ve started Mediations, but I find it much harder to get into. Maybe my opinion will change when I’m finished, but, to me, he’s a little dry.

Holiday publishes through Portfolio, an imprint of Penguin that focuses on business titles. Holiday is a business guru. Robertson has published through Routledge and Yale. If I want to know ancient philosophy, I want academic expertise, not how to be better at sales and marketing.

So there’s this whole tradition of liberalism that argues every person has rights, regardless of “citizenship” or “legal status.” This tradition is the basis of law in the US. ICE is violating those rights because of a radical ideology that rejects liberalism.

It is simply impossible to dislike Cruz enough.

Was this her position during COVID lockdown? “We must obey God rather than men,” became the mantra. Hypocrites.

When I was reading through Seneca’s Ethics, there were many opportunities where I read a direct passage to my wife or simply shared insights I’d gained, and she was always receptive and found it helpful. I think that’s all it takes. Just incorporate what you’ve gained into the natural flow of life.

Also, I like that when I read your reviews, I come away with so many more books to read.

I read Rillera’s book earlier this year and found it very thought provoking. Aside from Leithart’s review (which was excellent), I haven’t found many critiques. So thank you for writing such an in depth review. I spent a good chunk of the evening reading through, and profited from it immensely.

I mentioned that last part to my former pastor one time. As a Baptist, Calvin likely would’ve put him in prison or exiled him or worse. He hadn’t considered that until that moment, but he said even Calvin needed sanctification.

Voluntarism and iconoclasm are striking similarities between Calvinism and Islam. I think both are dangerous to sound theology. Anyway, I say all this as a former confessional Calvinist. Normally I wouldn’t be so pedantic, but the chart made my eye twitch, so I had to respond. Merry Christmas 😄

I know it’s a meme and all, but the first point is overstated and the last is wrong. TULIP was invented/popularized in the 20th century. Given sola gratia, Calvinists don’t believe in works-based anything except the merits of Christ. The other points are more or less accurate.
