I always have an empty plate at the table. Often it’s for a last minute friend but I like to have an ancestor there if I don’t have anybody else.

I honestly think he saw him walk by the house and chatted him up. Realized the man was sad and lonely, maybe walking away or to something grim, and he took him in. We like to think he saved a lost soul. We tried to figure out who he was and never saw him again. It was a 300 people village back then.

We’re weirdos so we love that it freaks out people 😂

I loved that man so much. He taught me to believe in beauty of serendipity and that there’s magic in the unknown. He made my childhood absolutely beautiful and full of laughter and wonder.

I want to add that my grand father was the most generous and most random human I’ve ever met. My grand mother gave him a “you bring a stranger at home! We have all the kids here! Who is that man!” And he just answered : that’s the plate for the stranger. He’s a stranger. That’s his plate.

… life. No idea. My grand father just said “yeah it’s Mr. Blah, you know, the man who walks!” We all went “Hi Mr. Blah, happy Easter!”
That guy spent Easter with us. Never saw him again. We still keep an empty plate at the table in holidays but now we call it “the plate for the man who walks” 🙃

I found Crimson Peak so boring and flat, I didn’t watch Shape of Water. I’d say Frankenstein is a very slightly less annoying because the original material is great? But it pissed me off more because I love the questions the book raise but they truly did Shelley dirty.

Frankenstein. Very under impressed. Beautiful production as usual but absolutely vapidly empty. All choices are made to drive the esthetics and not the story. Meh.

I should have asked you right away. Praise your knowledge.

Yo my friend said the exact same thing ahahahah
Does whale oil explode? Legit question

I don’t think 30 years changed much about kerosene production in the 1800s.
The costumes aren’t 1840s either they’re all over the place but… I don’t expect GDT to make anything that is more than just “pretty” at this point.

Dynamite is 1863 but it would have made a bit more sense than reffined gas - agreed
November 24, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Is that 1818 kerosene that he’s dumping everywhere? Choosing the burn a stone structure full of water is…. a choice ™

(Now I’m googling what liquid they can be using in 1818 to blow up anything like that 🫠)

And it’s the guy from Saltburn?!?! 😂
