i remember useless things and solve weird problems
i get paid to help AWS do open source things
once, i co-wrote an O'Reilly book on raspberry pi hacks
i maintain a lot of fedora packages, maybe too many
I have found that my position has rarely been made worse by having more information.

But this isn't absolute. Few things are.

Today, I ran a mile. It was on a treadmill, and it wasn't particularly fast, but it was on a slight incline and I ran the entire mile without stopping.

It is a moral obligation that whenever we see an AI interface demo that we ask it if it's found Sarah Connor yet.

What, like you've never accidentally forgot you had a full bottle of gin in your carry-on?

Just me then? Ok.

New York City always charms me whenever I visit, bit I'm not wealthy enough to live here.

I'm in town this week for the UN Open Source week. What should I eat? And if you're around and want to meet up, lemme know!

I don't know how to sell things online. I mean, it's an ice maker, either you want it or you don't.

You know that sweet Sonic/CFA nugget ice? Well, I decided I needed that in my house, all the time, so I saved up and bought a GE Profile Opal 2.0 XL Pellet Ice Maker for my kitchen (from Amazon)....

I'm back on a plane again this morning, something that I haven't done in a while. Some of the routine feels comforting but it also feels scary. Reminding myself that courage is not the absence of fear, but the capacity to push past the fear to do the things you need to do.

Anyone have a personal recommendation for a tattoo artist/studio in the Triangle (North Carolina)? I'm seriously thinking about getting one.

To anyone at FOSDEM who was hoping to see me today, I'm sorry.

It's really hard to look at what's happening in the US right now and feel like doing anything. The stress is eating me.

I'm terrified of even getting on a flight into US airspace, and there are others with way more to fear than me.

You have to try to balance screaming until your voice gives out with appreciating the small moments of joy.

I've said it before but the NHL is awful to watch as a cord cutting fan. Random games on NHL Network or TNT that can't be streamed legally.

I just love it when a filament shatters in the printer. I had to disassemble most of the X1C and AMS to get it out, then force the tiny bit in the toolhead out at heat.

One trip to Harbor Freight (2mm long fit allen wrench), one new build plate, and two hours later, we're printing again.

The Christmas music is allowed starting the day after Thanksgiving and must stop on January 2.

I feel like that's more than enough.

I have been walking 5K almost every day for the last few weeks, with the exception of my week in Vegas for re:Invent, where I actually averaged more.

It helps that there's a lovely public park with a paved trail around a lake walkable from my house, where a variety of beautiful birds can be seen.

A reminder: The SSPL is still a hot slimy trash license that is not only not open source, in any way, but is an active attempt to undermine the freedoms that make open source powerful.

And if that meant nothing to you, here is a beautiful chameleon to look at.
