I will admit, it took me a while to realize it, but it was unsettling from the start. It really is a shame because Tirado is exactly the type of author I want to support and see more from, but I just cannot get onboard with this.

Also - I complain about this a lot, but this book was written by someone who has never lived in New Orleans, and I don't know, its a story very grounded in a particular place and time - and I dont think the author had enough info to really flesh that out.
