A big part of the mess we have now is due to the rise of fascism, but specifically the disappearance of any kind of safe space for kids. Every space should not be for kids, and some spaces should only be for kids. Trying to make the entire internet "for kids" is not only impossible, but stupid.

It's not okay to only make one space and expect everyone to conform.

I think a lot of people get really caught up in "think of the children" and forget that literally every person, no matter their age, deserves to have a space in which to exist freely and happily. It's okay to keep kids out of adult spaces. It's okay to keep adult stuff out of all-ages spaces.

Frankly, our culture doesn't handle any of this well, but there's something really twisted about telling people to reach out, and then punishing them if they do.
