For Thanksgiving, I turned to the original Point Break. Man, this film is great. It reads like a grand, sweeping tragedy. Almost in the vein of a Greek play. Look, Katherine Bigelow is just fucking good at making movies and seems to rarely get recognition for it. Go watch this-- it's good.

Also managed to catch Running Man this week. I'm still not sure how I feel about this one. It's a fun thrill ride, but the ending is baffling. Not story wise, just the execution. Weird tonal shift to end on. you should absolutely catch it in theaters, just be ready for an abrupt ending.

Made it to the theater to see Predator: Badlands. I had a lot of fun with this one. Not everyone is going to like it, but I'm so glad this franchise is doing something new. I think this movie will also bring a lot of new fans to the fold. I recommend it!

Also found time for the reboot. Still just baffled by the casting for this movie. Jake Gyllenhaal is a very weird choice to lead the show and whoever told Conor McGregor that he can act should be in prison. It's... fine? My biggest issue is the digital sheen over the fights. Betrays the original.

Blue Velvet is in my top 5 on letterboxd. Genuinely heartbroken to hear about his passing. Can't recommend his pictures enough.
