I’ve been unemployed and poor before and that’s just not the same… you need more than just free time, you need a lack of stress about how you’re spending that time.

(This thread brought to you by the mountain of projects left to do in our new flat and hobbies untouched in months 😩)

I can’t really say it was the least stressed I’ve ever been because the waiting was itself a stressor, but that’s the only time in my life I’ve been not working AND not worrying about money and holy shit does that combo yield productivity.

We’ve gone down to white for anything we’re painting over, but the goal is to live in it for a while and see how the light hits everywhere, then we’ll decide on colours.

Yeah, boarded up and painted over, the tangerine was not relaxing 😆

(The only thing I hate is the minifigs and the fact that their stock is always low or late in the UK… but fine in EU or North America smh)

If you’re into Lego but either feeling out-priced or wishing they sold more buildings, I highly recommend checking out Lumibricks. The kits are original, not knock-offs, and the bricks are quality.

Pro mover guy even told us not to bother renting a van next time we need something picked up, that he has one and would do it for free.

J: but I like driving the van :(

😆

I’m sure there are downsides to small town life but I must admit there are a lot of perks I hadn’t anticipated.

I put out a call in our village community FB page looking to hire some people to help us unload it and bring it up the stairs… immediately got three guys offering for free 🥹

Even snagged a professional mover!

Got this for a song but picking it up was a SAGA. Initially I thought it was a well-known kit house, but turns out it’s hand- and custom- made out of what I assume is pure lead.

Took us half an hour to move it ten feet 😭

Luckily they’re dog owners who didn’t care at all and we all fell about in hysterics while Darwin was frozen in terror BUT STILL 😤

Are they? I don’t think I know any nuns names… and half the women in my dad’s generation are named Mary 😆

I had no idea- grew up in a catholic area but in a casual way and nuns are a dying breed.

Out of curiosity is the author American or from elsewhere?

In hindsight I’m not sure what I expected, but Darwin- who is terrified of people- has many regrets 😅

When I was a sophomore in college (so 2001-2002), I was sitting at a coffee shop working on computer science homework when this guy with a nasal bridge piercing at table next to me said “internet? I say ‘interNOT,’ man.” In retrospect he may have had a point.
