I'd agree that social attitudes have become more liberal. But politically, since Thatcher/Reagan, political discourse has moved decisively to the right. That refers, I'd say, to political/media elites. Arguing for eg even mild left social democratic policies is seen as 'communism'.

The fact that in a number of cases this has happened (and, in fact, has been the case in the past), doesn't equate to a shift of the Overton window leftwards. It's gone rightwards since at least 1985.
