Well, so what? I paid Inheritance Tax on the estate of my late father and I didn't whine about it for a moment.

If Jill Lemon wants to pay no taxes then she should gather no benefit from society. No police, no fire brigade, no NHS medical treatment - nothing. How 'horrible' would that feel?

I live in such a house c1890. My experience is that the thermal stability of 14" brickwork is a big advantage.

Yup. That's the one.

I wouldn't recommend eating one but I have read that the further away from the tropics it grows then the lower the tropane alkaloid content. It seems like the plant senses that the local predators aren't as dangerous and doesn't waste as much energy synthesising poisons.
