''If anything we probably trained too much.''

England coach Brendon McCullum reflects on going 2-0 down in the Ashes.

"If anything, I probably revised too much."

I think audiences will decide if it is "really needed," Auntie - not its competitors.

Watching Col U - Gills, where the ref is the guy who rather mysteriously subbed himself off against Salford this season. While it is nice to see him back, this game - With Ainsworth in one dugout and Cowley in the other, is an interesting appointment for his first one back in the middle.

The Spireites have played nine cup ties on December 6th and have lost only one - at home to Darlo in 1978. Ok, we've drawn five and won only 3, and two of those wins didn't count, but a win's a win! Our first win came via a 13-0 scoreline over Eckington Works Reserves in the 1890-1 Sheffield FA 1/2

Unfathomably tacky, but so well-designed considering its only likely recipient, the FIFA Peace Prize trophy could have been made by a first-year theatrical prop-making student in 24 hours* with fibreglass and tins of green and gold spray paint.

*Including 23 hours for the fibreglass to set.

Trying to watch Morton/Queen's Park, but the drummer is so chuffing loud, he sounds like he's rivetting the Queen Mary together.

So if I'm following this right, Algeria cannot go into Senegal's group as you can't have two teams from the same confederation in the same group, unless you're England and Croatia.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing from the "keep politics out of sport" harrumphers, sure they'll be along shortly.

Chesterfield returned from Wrexham with a point today after Jimmy Cookson’s 20th-minute opener was cancelled out before half-time. The Spireites’ steady and productive combination gave them the edge throughout, although better finishing might have helped the home side 1/4 #CFC100

Corruption at Fifa used to be the shameless, amateurish activity of men who liked cigars, brandy and five-star hotels. Under Infantino it has been turbocharged with the grotesque aim of making Fifa's president a global statesman.

‘He massages Trump’s basest instincts’: why is Fifa’s Gianni Infantino cosying up to the US president?
For a man who insists football isn’t political, the Fifa boss is putting a lot of effort into into courting the most divisive politician on Earth

Chesterfield safely negotiated their FA Cup, 1st round tie at Wath Athletic today. In front of a 4,200 crowd, the home side resisted until the 30-minute mark, when Whitfield was brought down in the penalty area, and Cookson rifled the ball home. 1/3 #CFC100

Goals today for Dilan Markanday and James Berry took both players into double figures for League goals for us. Dilan has netted his ten in 39 appearances, while James has taken just 30 games to get his ten.

Good to see Ashton Rinaldo keep a clean sheet on his debut to help Matlock town to a win. Good, also, to see a fit-again Gunner Elliott get on from the bench.

Our best-looking win on November 22 came at Leicester in 1947. Here's a report from our opponent's local paper. One note of interest: our equaliser came while their keeper was off injured, and the future Town player Walter Harrison was temporarily in goal for them.

To our credit, we have a winning record on Nov. 22 despite playing 7 away and 4 at home. We've won 5, drawn 3 and lost 3, but goal difference is skewed against us by a 1-5 defeat to Darlington in 1930, which was the last time there was more than one goal between the teams in league games.
