Friday November 28, 2025 Black Friday, the US's biggest shopping day has some boycotting big box stores which have enabled the Trump admin, gone along with his racist anti-diversity efforts, and enabled ICE raids. The "We're not buying it" campaign seeks to organize people with targeted economic action against Target, Amazon, and Home Depot. Locally a shooting at Valley Fair Mall left two injured and caused a chaotic evacuation at the Bay Area's largest mall. Trump admin revealed to have Knowingly committed war crimes when bombing survivors of illegal boat strikes. Contradicting this so called hard on drug crime stance he also pardoned Juan Orlando Hernández who'd been convicted for working with "El Chapo" and cocaine traffickers.

Wednesday November 26,2025 Two National Guard members from West Virginia were shot while deployed in Washington DC. Trump has called the shooting an act of terror and said he will increase efforts to deport migrants and Afghan nationals. The National Guard deployment in D.C. began after Elon Musk's DOGE staffer nicknamed Big Balls was mugged in D.C. in August (an account disputed by teens who said he attacked them) leading to over 2000 National Guard troops deployed in DC. The unit from West Virginia of 300 troops was set te return home but 160 volunteered to stay. Last week a judge ruled the deployment illegal but gave the admin 21 days to remove the troops. For the last 4 months DC residents have been occupied by troops and subjected to kidnappings and raids. The shooters motives are unknown. A mega fire in a Hong Kong skyscraper has killed at least 41 peope, caused evacuations of several nearby buildings, and is still burning as fire fighters work to put it out. The buildings in the Wang Fuk Court complex have seen the fire spread from 1 to 7 of the 8 buildings. The fire began on a scaffolding outside one of the 32 story buildings, and spread.

Tuesday November 25, 2025 Activists performed in Italy to recognize International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a day the UN General Assembly declared to raise awareness of gonder based violence. In parallel Italy's parliment approved a new law that makes femicide a crime punished with life in prison. Campbell’s put an IT chief on leave after a recording came to light in court of him calling the soup for poor people and making racist remarks. A former employee made a recording during a salary negotiation and when he reported the internal racism he was fired according to the lawsuit in which this recording was released. Anti-vax Louisiana surgeon general Dr. Ralph Abraham who ordered public health agencies to stop promoting mass vaccinations has been promoted to second in command at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Under his leadership he covered up a whoopin cough outbreak that killed babies.

Monday November 24, 2025 Viola Fletcher, the oldest survior of the Tulsa race massacre, died at age 111, Known as Mother Fletcher at age 7 she witnessed white men attack the community, loot and burn over 1,000 homes and all the Black businesses. While fleeing with her family she saw the ash raining like snow, an air plane fire bomb what had once been known as and a “Black Wall Street” and a Black man have his head blown off by a white man with a shotgun. After fleeing she never got more than an elementary school education and worked as a sharecropper. As an adult she worked as a maid, and 100 years ather the massacre met President Biden, and testfied to congress to try to preserve knowledge of the history she survived. The Pentagon has threatened Senator Mark Kelly with an investigation for breach of military law for reminding troops they legally should not follow unlawful orders. These attacks are both unlawful and have reminded many that the fighter pilot turned astronaut who became a senator after his wite Gabby Giffords was shot In the head... Knows a lot more about service than those attacking him. A judge tossed out politically motivated cases against James Comey and NY AG Leticia James saying Lindsey Halligen was illegally put in her job.

Also wearing a mask for travel can reduce your odds of spending the day sick with the flu, covid,RSV, or a cold. A Fire on a contuiner shie, the One Henry Hudson that started on Friday night has been put out after an operation with 100 LA fire fighters and 200 people from Heavy Rescue, Hazmat, USAR, Fire Boats, Air Operations, and the Coast Guard. The boat was moved from the dock to open water and a shelter in place order due to air contaminents was lifted with the port now operating fully. Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, a Black Power activist and Muslim cleric died in jail today. As a former chairman of the Student National Coordinating Committee he often said “Black folk built America, and it it don’t come around, we’re gonna burn America down” FBI director Hoover ordered law enforcement to target him and eventually he was jailed for murdering a deputy sherieff, despite another inmate confessing to the murder.

Saturday November 22, 2025 COP30, the international climate talks, reached a deal to increase funding for those countries hit by climate disasters, without a deal to phase out fossil fuels or strengthen emissions reduction plans given the world is not close to meeting past emissions reductions goals. Greenpeace’s Jasper Inventor a former negotiator summarized the outcome saying “Strip away the outcome text and you see it plainly, the emperor has no clothes.” Panama negotiator said bluntly: “a climate decision that cannot even say ‘fossil fuels’ is not neutrality, it is complicity. And what’s happening here transcends incompetence. Science has been deleted from COP30 because it offends polluters.” Video was shared today of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Yo-Yo Ma playing Ave Maria together last night at Boston Symphony Hall for We the People broadcast.

Mandani began to answer saying "I've spoken about-" when trump cut him off saying “just say yes it’s easier than explaining” and smiling continued, "it’s okay I don’t mind” Marjorie Taylor Green, the far-right MAGA Trump loyalist and Q Anon conspiracy theory believing congress woman announced she is resigning effective January 5 2026. Wednesday November 19, 2025 An Oakland Elementary School was on lockdown after an ICE sighting. Neighbors came to form a perimeter to keep students safe. Nearby a crash after ICE pursued another driver caused a crash with a stationary car parked nearby, and lead to a community response. Trump signs a bill to release the Epstein files, but a loophole saying files related to ongoing investigations do not have to be released means it’s still unclear what information will be coming out. Victims of Epstein have been pushing for accountability. Larry Summers has gone on leave from Harvard (where he’s still a tenured professor), resigned from the Open Al board, left the Center For American Progress and the Center for Global Development. Thus far it seems all leave has been his choice not consequences imposed on him. Zoox is beginning to offer rides in San Francisco. While Waymo and Cruise have both been using self-driving cars in SF, Zoox is the first custom vehicle with no steering wheel to be deployed, unlike Waymo which used Jaguar.

Tuesday November 18 2025 Trump welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the White House where in a tense Question Answer portion of the visit he attacked an ABC News correspondent Mary Bruce after she asked the prince why Americans should trust him after he helped orchestrate the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. While the prince said he regretted it, Trump said it was Khashoggi’s fault as “a lot of people didn’t like” him. If Trumps attack on a murdered journalist wasn't bad enough he also said the FCC should take away ABC's broadcast license for being critical of Trump. Congress passed the "Epstein Files Transparency Act" 427 to 1 in the house and unanimously in the senate. The bill forces the release all files and communications related to Epstein and his death, but can have redactions for victims privacy and ongoing investigations. This is a very public rebuke of Trump, Bondi, Kash Patel, and Speaker Johnson who all said there’s nothing there. Federal judges block Texas redistricting House maps as they are racially gerrymandered and would harm Black and Hispanic voters

Monday November 17, 2025 As leaders from around the world met for COP30, the global climate summit, Pope Leo XIV sent a message to urge leaders to take concrete actions to protect the planet. In a video message he said "1 in 3 people live in great vulnerability because of the climate changes. To them climate change is not a distant threat, and to ignore these people is to deny our shared humanity. The US plan for Gaza passed the UN security council, however Hamas opposes the plan saying it doesn’t respect the rights of Palestinians. Under the plan an international Stabalization force will be in charge of both humanitarian aid and disarming the region. (An asymetric arrangement with Palestinians disarmed and Israeli forces maintained)(It also allows the stabilization force to use military force to carry out its mandate) Epstein’s emails have weakened Trump. This weekend he told a journalist asking about the files “Quiet Piggy" but today after realizing that political consequences showed him losing he did an about face saying he wont stop congress from releasing files. This rare retreat showed his power is not absolute. Meanwhile at Harvard, former President Larry Summers is facing calls for resignation for harrassing a student.

Sunday November 16, 2025 The first winter rains in the Gaza strip flooded makeshift shelters and tents where many live after 2 years of devastating attacks. While many in Gaza are focused on survival, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu vowed to oppose any attempt to establish a Palestinian state, a day before a UN Security Council vote for a UN mandate that would establish an international stabilization force and leave the door open for statehood. (many nations already recognize Palestine) Pope Leo XIV called upon world leaders to "Listen to the cry of the poorest. There can be no peace without justice." Meanwhile across the US immigration was on the minds of many and mass arrests in Charlotte lead to many empty pews. Meanwhile other church leaders spoke from the heart during mass. Faith leaders in congregations across the US have joined protests and been brutally attacked by ICE alongside their communities.

ICE and Border Patrol agents kidnapped people from a church yard in front of kids, pulled people from cars, and detained people hanging Christmas lights. Local leaders have said this is entirely unwanted, and many in the community filmed raids and tried to help their neighbors.

Friday November 14,2025 Indigenous activists blocked the entrance to COP30, the global climate summit to demand access to the COP 30 President and time to discuss being a greater part of the talks given the critical habitat work tribes are doing. 195 countries are meeting in Brazil but the US is notably reduced in representation with CA Governor Gavin Newsom attending but Trump skipping. Reverend Michael Woolf of Lake Street Church in Evanston was one of many in Chicago protesting ICE when he attended a protest hoping to help keep the peace. He was shoved to the ground, bruised, and arrested. The community protests have continued as ICE has been kidnapping people off the street and in Neighborhoods all over Chicago. The GOP is splintering as Trump and some in the far right are divided over releasing the Epstein files. MTG and Trump have publicly split while some like Megyn Kelly are defending men having sex with teenagers. Recent email releases now have people wondering did Trump give Bill Clinton a blowjob? Also Trump knew about trafficking.

Wednesday November 12, 2025 Trump signed a bill to end the 43 day government shutdown... but it will still take time for workers to resume all federal services including food stamps. Trump spent today having meetings in the Situation Room... to pressure House representatives to not release Epstein files beyond what the oversight committee already has. Democrats on the House Oversight committee released some of Epstein's emails referring to Trump, so the GOP released a trove of over 20,000 emails to try to say those earlier emails were out of context. While journalists are combing through them, the private communications show that Trump knew about Epstein’s crimes, he (Epstein) was advising Putin’s people on how to handle Trump, and Epstein had terrible spelling and grammar. Today the US Mint in Philadelphia pressed the final pennies, which have been produced since 1793. All existing pennies remain worth one cent.

Tuesday November 11th 2025 Millions around the world observed Armistice Day ending World War I (then known as the Great War or the war to end all wars). Now known as Veterans Day in America, and Remembrance day in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. If is said the silence when the war stopped on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, and 11th month... the silence was profound, and using silence to mark the loss present for all those changed by wars is a tradition that continues. The US Government is still shut down, but it seems poised to end as Speaker Johnson is finally calling the house into session to vote on the senete deal (which does not restore healthcare funding). The House has been on recess since September with no oversight or other legislative work during the federal shutdown. This extended recess reduced congressional power leaving the executive branch even more unchecked. Meanwhile the supreme court is allowing Trump to withhold SNAP payments so until the shutdown is over millions face hunger.

Monday Norember 10, 2025 It is day 41 of the government shutdown and in a show of spinelessness, Senate Democrats caved with 8 members who are retiring or not running for a few years providing the votes on a Senate bill to reopen the government without the healthcare subsidies they claimed to be holding out for. Less than 1 week after resounding Democratic victories where millions voted to hold off the fascist Trump regime, the Senate Dems under Schumer proved that they are not up for the task and don’t realize the stakes for millions af people. I and millions of others who've had essential care due to the affordable care act are aghast. The supreme court has said they won't take Kim Davis's challenge to same-sex marriage -(yay) and will take the case about the legality of state laws counting mailed in ballots received after Election Day (uh oh...) in Watson v. Republican National Committee

Sunday November 9, 2025 The US Government is still shutdown but after 40 days of stalemate, a landslide Democratic election win, 7 million Americans marching to declare “no kings”... it seems the Senate is ready to be spineless again. 8 senators from the Democratic caucus broke the stalemate including #2 Senate Dem Dick Durbin - indicating Senator Schumer either can't control the caucus or blessed the move (all the people who broke party lines are not up for reelection in 2026) The deal would not fix the affordable care act premium hike, and would further legitimize Trump and the GOP’s recent cuts and behavior. Left learning political writers and activists have loudly expressed anger and dismay at the Senate and the proposed deal which does not reflect the urgent stakes. A tender image of a woman feeing her husband in an wheelchair in a tent in an evacuation center showed the care in the chaos of Typhoon Fung-Wong which has caused 1.4 million people to be displaced. 318,000 people are sheltering in evacuation centers as rain continues to bring risks as the storm passes. It’s too early to know the damages.

Saturday November 8, 2025 It is day 39 of the US government shut down. Flights across the country were cancelled with more than 1,500 flights cancelled today and over 1,000 already cancelled for tomorrow. Air traffic controllers have been unpaid for over a month and are beginning to call in sick to work second jobs to pay their bills. Meanwhile the lack of food aid has pushed food backs and community groups to try to fill the urgent need as people face hunger. Super Typhoon Fung-Wong has started hitting the Philippines with over 1 million people evacuating from high risk villages. Typhone Kalmaegi hit the Philippines last Tuesday killing 224 people and leaving widespread devastation. With gusts of wind reaching 143 mph and a 994 mile rain and wind band, the military has warned about 30 million people could be exposed to hazards in the storm and its wake. Flights have been canceled and schols and most government offices are closed.

Friday November 7, 2025 The US Government has been shutdown for 38 days. The Trump admin sued for an administrative stay from the Supreme court to block SNAP payments, which they were granted. Some states had already sent out payments, others have stopped as they're unsure what federal reimbursments wil come, 1 in 8 Americans and 1 in 5 children rely on SNAP for preventing hunger. SCOTUS heard a case in a closed door hearing to revisit the legality of same-sex marriages after a former clerk who refused to issue licenses appealed a lower court ruling. The long shot appeal asks if government workers have a right to discriminate based on their beliefs when acting as a government official. Judge Karin Immergut ruled Trump did not have legal authority tor sending troops to Portland, this followed a trial in which the government presented evidence, but the 106-page opinion confirmed earlier temporary rulings... it was an illegal troop deployment.

Thursday November 6, 2025 Nancy Pelosi, SF’s congress woman and the first and only woman to be Speaker of the House announced she will not seek re-election. Originally she entered congress in 1987 and began her tenure standing up for the LGBTQ community during the aids crisis. As Speaker she held a fractured caucus together getting wins like the Affordable Care Act, Covid relief, the Inflation Reduction Act, Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform, repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, and leading both of Trump’s impeachments. She is probably the most impactful legislator of our lives. The US Government is still shut down. Today courts told the Trump admin they must fully fund SNAP, but they've already said they're going to appeal leaving many unsure of what aid if any will come.

Wednesday November 5, 2025 The US Government is STILL Shutdown. NY Mayor-elect Zohran Mandani announced an all women transition team with people who had served under former mayors Adams, Bloomberg, and de Blasio in additron to former FTC chair under Biden, Lina Khan. This choice shows both willingness to work with previous leaders and a desire for bold progressive action. The FAA has said it will call on airlines to cut 10% of flights at the 40 busiest airports if the shutdown continues due to strain on air traffic controllers who have not been paid in weeks. The Transportation Safety Board has said the UPS crash in Louisville Kentucky killed 12, as search and rescue continued. It appears the left engine detached catching fire causing the plane to crash and debris to trigger multiple blazes upon landing on businesses below with 38,000 gallons of fuel on the plane

Tuesday November 4th 2025 Three caricatures of Gov elect Spanberger, Gov elect Sherrill, and Mayor elect Mamdani Democrats dominated the first major election of Trumps 2nd term. Zohran Mandani won the New York Mayor's race,Abigail Spanberger won Virginia’s governor’s race Mikie Sherrill won New Jersey’s governor’s race, California approved prop 50, Colorado funds free school meals, Pennslyvania protected 3 supreme court seats, Georgia had Dems flip two statewide offices, and there's still more races being tallied. Anti Trump sentiment and inclusive politics did very well. Former Vice President and war criminal Dick Cheney died. He expanded executive powers to lead the so called War on Terror, leading to a 2 decade long war, millions of Iraqis dead, supported using torture, and consolidated power in the executive branch under George Bush. He will not be missed. The US Government is now in its longest shutdown.
