My LGS had such a demand for the first prerelease they had to funnel folks to the midnight one because the 6:00 pm one filled up! Never seen that before

Okay, I understand what you're saying now. The point of 'People might confuse which pack to buy' I can understand, though any LGS worth its salt should be able to help a newbie out there.

I get what you're saying, but how is this any different to explaining that same divide with Commander precons? It's the same situation with different product flavors.
Now, if we want to complain about how we keep making Beginner / Welcome products that aren't standard legal, i'll grab my pitchfork

I’d argue ‘full’ Jumpstart set is a stretch. It’s better than the old set jumpstarts but it’s nowhere near as many cards as the two regular Jumpstart sets.
As the best product for beginners I can’t be mad at it.
