I don't think it's possible to have art without inspiration. Even the first cave paintings were based off what the artists saw

Aw, that's a really neat nod to their original inspiration! I have wanted to watch those Batman cartoons forever, they look amazing.

I was watching a lot of the Disney Afternoon stuff recently, where everyone has an Indiana Jones outfit and a bi-plane (not just Disney, but in a lot of stuff elsewhere). The Disney movies, instead, rip off various books :D

Agreed. Rare literally just iterated on whatever Nintendo was doing and made it better. Back before Microsoft bought and ostensibly unintentionally gutted them.

I was literally just thinking the other day about how Crash clearly copied Taz and how hard I've been trying to NOT make a Taz style spinny character because I didn't want to be derivative of either of them...............
Oh yeah don't forget Crash copied DKC as well as all those other ones.

And here I've spent most of my life trying so hard to not copy anything that I'm bending into a pretzel shape when everyone who's made great art was like "screw it, I'm using whatever".... Definitely makes me rethink my approach.
