Bumps + irritation were likely infection. Depending on your body's typical reaction to piercings and general healing it's hard to say if your healing time is normal. My two were fine after 4-6 months but I also had a seemingly healed lobe piercing develop a keloid after a year so ╮(︶︿︶)╭
