Lots of people still helping with supply stations and free hot meals. Lots of work on restoring the trails and park areas. Also lots of dump trucks on the roads and lots more debris to be collected. Everyone is doing things to help/move forward. But there’s still years of work to be done.

In this weird sad way I’m grateful for the relief center I’ve been volunteering at since Helene. It’s been a nice distraction from the crazy. I just hand out hot meals and people smile and say thank you.

Wilson Creek Wild and Scenic River Area is national forest land situated between the Blue Ridge Parkway and Lenior NC.
Forty-nine thousand acres of wilderness area with multiple trails, backcountry camping and many waterfalls. Currently trails are closed because of damage from Helene.
