Right now, we have an Administration in Washington that wants us to forget the progress we've made. They want us to feel helpless. Dehumanized. Hearing President Biden at the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute conference reminded me that there is another way and we must keep fighting.
Joe Biden says MAGA Republicans want to make LGBTQ+ people ‘into something scary’
The former president warned that the nation's move toward equality must be protected in the age of Trump.

Maine's next legislative session begins in January. We’ll be pushing back against the Trump administration's cruel cuts, including cuts to food assistance. I'm proposing a bill that will ensure families receive the SNAP benefits they need for groceries. We can't let Mainers in need go hungry.

Congrats to Biddeford's new Mayor Liam LaFountain, and to city council and school committee members, on their swearing-in last night. I look forward to seeing how these leaders work together to keep our community moving forward. Their success will be our success.

Much of Maine will get 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow. In some parts of York County, we could be looking at a foot of snow! Now is the time to get prepared. Put a snow brush/scraper, phone charger, warm clothes, or even a small shovel in your car. Be sure to give plows time & space to clear the roads.

Today, I met with leaders from across the US to talk about child care access. Last session, I championed a bill that allows child care centers to open in any residential neighborhood in Maine. I was excited to talk about that and other measures we passed for working families. #NewDEAL2025Conference

"In 2022, the average homeowner had a net worth of about $396,000, 38 times that of a person who did not own a home. If newer buyers can’t get that starter home, Lautz cautioned, that could have knock-on effects for them and their children."

The failed attempt to make it harder to vote in Maine gained national attention, including from the @npr.org Politics Podcast. They brought up a law I championed that allows people 65+ and those with disabilities to choose to automatically receive an absentee ballot.

1/2 The shutdown “deal” revolves around a wink and a nod that Sen. Thune will hold a vote on lowering healthcare premiums in December.

That doesn’t guarantee it will happen. It also doesn’t guarantee it will pass.

40 days into a government shutdown. A DOJ fighting in court to block food assistance to needy families. And what is our president doing to fix all of this?

He is in the commentary booth with Fox Sports at the Commanders-Lions game.

Shameful.

Cruel and careless federal cuts from Washington are already hurting Maine families. I'm working with other lawmakers at the State House to do as much as we can to address the challenges Mainers are facing.
