The article discusses rates of fires per 100,000 vehicles, not absolute numbers, but if you want to look at absolute numbers, EVs are less of a risk there too.
There are plenty of legitimate things to be concerned about. This is not one to perseverate on.

Fortunately the rate of an EV fire is at least 61 times less than a fossil fuel vehicle (www.kbb.com/car-news/stu...). If you don’t feel comfortable driving one, don’t do it.
