Spark is a science-driven non-profit accelerating progress in emerging, high-impact climate fields.
Today, we are releasing a roadmap that analyses emerging livestock enteric methane solutions—like feed additives, genetics, vaccines—and where targeted efforts are needed to scale them: www.sparkclimate.org/article/char...
Charting a Path to Cut the Largest Source of Methane from Human Activity — Spark Climate Solutions
It’s time to unlock faster solutions for the largest source of methane from human activity: livestock.

Spark Climate Solutions Announces Program to Model Major Climate Blind Spot: Warming-Induced Greenhouse Gas Emissions — Spark Climate Solutions
As climate change heats up the planet, natural systems like warming wetlands and thawing permafrost are expected to emit more greenhouse gases...

We will coordinate with scientists from around the world to better represent these feedbacks in climate models—helping to inform the IPCC’s 7th Assessment Report (AR7) and other key processes.
October 27, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Despite their potential to significantly accelerate warming, these warming-induced emissions are largely absent from climate models, carbon budgets, and global policies.

That makes them a big blind spot in climate science & policy.
October 27, 2025 at 1:52 PM
As the planet warms, ecosystems like permafrost, wetlands, forests, and soils are expected to release more GHGs—while their capacity to absorb them is weakening.
October 27, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Researchers, policymakers, and practitioners are invited to register interest by Nov 15, 2025.

Space is limited; accepted participants will be notified of next steps by Dec 1.

Methane Action for People & Planet: From Discovery to Solutions
www.ccacoalition.org
October 21, 2025 at 7:49 PM
he conference will bring together scientists, policymakers, and innovators to:

- Highlight advances in methane measurement, monitoring & mitigation

- Identify pathways toward faster methane action
October 21, 2025 at 7:49 PM
To mark this milestone & chart the next era of progress, we are joining @ec.europa.eu's Joint Research Centre, @envdefensefund.bsky.social, @ccacoalition.bsky.social, IGSD, Global Carbon Project to co-host:
Methane Action for People & Planet
📍 European Joint Research Centre
🗓️ 30 March–2 April 2026
October 21, 2025 at 7:49 PM
Next year marks 250 years since methane’s discovery—and today, methane action is one of our most powerful tools for protecting both our climate and clean air
October 21, 2025 at 7:49 PM
Cutting methane emissions is still critical—but could bioscience and plants complement mitigation? In our live session, discover the promise, uncertainties, and the highest priority next steps in research for this novel approach.

They’ve built an interactive tool to test impact: enzyme efficiency, plant productivity, deployment scale—all in one model. The webinar, cosponsored by the @ncstate.bsky.social Plant Sciences Initiative, will explore what this could mean and where the uncertainties lie.
September 26, 2025 at 6:37 PM
Spark-funded researchers Eli Hornstein (Elysia Bio) & Aram Mikaelyan (@ncstate.bsky.social) are investigating whether crops could be harnessed to produce methane monooxygenase (MMO)—an enzyme that breaks down methane—creating a potential new pathway for methane removal

We’re proud to have a stellar team of Scientists at Spark leading this effort: @benpoulter.bsky.social‬, @drmonteverde.bsky.social & Phil Duffy.

Working with a great team of collaborators: Brian Buma, Sue Natali, & Rob Jackson
