I was talking to a coworker recently who was trying to decide between upgrading to 4k or going for super high frame rate or getting a smaller 1440p oled.

I told him, look at it this way. You may not notice the difference going to 4k. You WILL notice the difference going to oled.

There is no way for the game to make you learn things without it killing you until you learn them. That's game design. Otherwise you just won't.

This isn't a movie where you push buttons to watch the next cutscene. Its not a JRPG. Its a gameplay based game. You play it.

If you never died you'd beat the game in 1 hour and it'd feel very empty and boring. Its having to learn things that makes it feel rewarding.

The game design of Hollow Knight is that you should die and try again and learn in the repetition.

You are supposed to die. Its not a failure. You dying doesn't mean you did anything wrong. As soon as you accept that, all this language about "false sense" goes out the window.

How is "I have only 1 or 2 hp" a "false sense of security?" Like you have to not be paying attention or think you should *NEVER* die for that to be the case.

Worst case scenario you die one or two times with 2 hp and realize "oh, 2 hp is still danger zone"

If you've beaten Hollow Knight, Act 1 of Silksong is really easy. If you haven't beaten Hollow Knight, you should go do that. There's no need to rush into Silksong first just because everybody else is posting about it.

Yes and the game feel of "half" is important too, you can't ignore that point. You can't change one without changing the other. Its not as simple as you're presenting it.
