The scene from Spielberg's E.T. where Elliot is riding a bicycle on a two-lane road with a milk crate on the front carrying the eponymous ET alien wrapped in a muslin blanket and looking skyward. Behind Elliot's bicycle are his older brother and his friends on BMX bikes, riding furiously behind him. Elliott wears a red hoodie, and the older riders are in greys with occasional flashes of red. The only headwear pictured is hoodies, trucker hats and headphones.

A window titled "LINC - CRT - LINC Display" on which some very low-res low-contrast amber dots make a bitmap display of the LAP6 text editor. The lines are numbered, 1-4. Line 1 has the alphabet and digits. Line 2 has punctuation, and line 3 has the italic i, mu, and some more symbols and punctuation. Line 4 is empty. At the bottom left is a rightward-pointing arrow, and bottom right has a dash indicating where input is happening.

Hooray, #zigzag works!

A black 3.5-inch diskette with a white label. the label advertises it as a "ZigZag™ Boot Floppy" inviting the users to "EXPLORE AND CONSTRUCT in discrete N-space!" It is gently tucked into a US-letter piece of grey paper on which further instructions have been printed before folding it into a triangular pocket. The whole affair is sitting atop a 19 November 1998 issue of Esther Dyson's "Release 1.0" newsletter, with the topic "Open Mind, Open Source" The instruction sheet unfolded to show text in triangular quadrants. It's rubbish for OCR due to the weird diagonal boundaries, but there are keystroke guides for things like reassigning axes, connecting cells, breaking conditions, making new dimensions, etc. The summary says "ZigZag space consists of multidimensional lists, viewable (currently) in two dimensions at a time, as rows and columns on the screen. What you can do with this is rather surprising. you can build spreadsheets and outlines and schedules, with fine-grained connections not previously convenient. You can build menus for Unix or DOS macros and their options, and lots of things we haven't had time to do yet. We propose this as a new rational space for the internals of computerdom, for new kinds of data, for new PDAs and phones. Plus you can use game controllers for its 2 windows. Enjoy."

As with all EnGaGeMeNt, this is certainly a double-edged sword. People pass screenshots around to share wit, but also to dunk, and loads of people finding original threads can be a massive pain as this person discovered.
A...tumblr thread, I think? There's conflicting scrollbars and it says "3/7" in a little lozenge at the top. Who knows how many layers of screenshotting this thing has survived. insane-tomato posts: "Trick or Yeet!" I shout to the children when I open the door. "Yeet?" one says confusidly. I shrug. "Yeet it is." I throw the child. technicallyoneofakind replies: Not Halloween but, okay. insane-tomato replies: okay you stick of unsalted butter i made this on halloween but everyone just likes to reblog it for some reason The bottom says "Source: insane-tomato" for some reason.

@sarajw @termux So yeah, I have an old BOW tri-fold that I can type on far better than any touchscreen or thumb typing. I've used it to produce documents in markor and send PDFs around to people, and nobody realised I was doing it from my phone.
A portable keyboard folded out, with the case tri-folded to hold a small orange pocket notebook in the space where a mobile phone would be. A photo of the keyboard partly folded up on one side, to show how the hinge works.

Tool Hand Luke (1980)
A still of the scene from Empire Strikes Back where a droid is testing Luke Skywalker's prosthetic hand, which replaces the one Darth Vader sliced off with a light sabre. Luke's forearm is visible, clamped to a white perspex table, and circuits are visible near his wrist. The droid's arm holds a tool that tests individual fingers by pointing some sort of stylus at the tendons, and we saw actuators move like the tendons in the forearm.
