Plans were delayed after 9/11 and 20 years of the GOWT. Trump just happened to be in office when the Pentagon decided to revisit the Space Force plans then lied and took credit for it even though it wasn't his idea at all.

The Space Force was actually proposed from as far back as the 1950s under President Eisenhower but we simply didn't have enough space assets at the time to justify creating a separate branch dedicated to it. Congress was actually getting ready to create the Space Force in the early 2000s but those

No problem. The Space Force suffers from a huge problem where the majority of people have no idea what they do and don't know the history behind it so they think it was just another dumb thing Trump came up with and have a negative response due to that. But that couldn't be further from the truth.

Artillery Colonel or Air Force pilot Colonel in charge of space assets when they are don't specialize in space and don't know how to fully utilize our assets. Get it? Like this is literally the whole point.

With how much literally every aspect of modern life especially our military relies on space assets, that isn't sustainable in the modern reality. This would also mean that we world have Commanders who don't specialize in space in charge of space assets. It makes no sense to have an Army Field

they will always take a back seat to that branch's primary mission. The Air Force will always prioritize the fighter jets. The Army will always prioritize the infantry, etc. Meaning that our space assets would have to fight for funding from whatever is left after those missions are paid for.

the nation's space assets under a single branch, it only takes a single Commander to authorize any action utilizing a given satellite. Thus speeding up response time and efficiency in time-critical situations. Furthermore, having our space assets were split between the different branches means that

This meant that whenever we needed to do anything with those satellites, we would need to get approval from multiple Chains of Command across different branches leading to redundant, inefficient, and pointless time delays and unnecessary bureaucracy. Because the Space Force unifies the majority of

Before the creation of the Space Force, the nation's space assets WERE split between the Air Force, Army, Navy, etc. The problem was that we had satellites (specifically SATCOM satellites for example) where the Air Force owned the bus on the satellite, but the payload was owned by the Army.

The delta symbol has been used by aviation/aerospace organizations long before Star Trek was a thing
