What a brilliant conference on “Place and Periodical” at Chester University! A couple of things that stayed with me:
- the leap from regional to national/international. What are we leaping over? (Dr Scott Humes)
- the periodical present is destined past. (Dr Siân Round)

First conference of 2024 at St. Louis University. Although it was Medieval and Renaissance conference, Romanticism was all around:
- Found 19C periodical archives in the Rare Books Collection.
- Dr. Teri Fickling’s amazing paper on Hunt’s Hairbook and his tributary sonnets on Milton.

“April is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dried tubers.”

Watched National Theatre Live production of C.P Taylor’s “Good” today. Loved how the dialogue flipped with the stage positioning. Exclaimed “Fuck!” at least 10 times with awestruck audience.
