a reddit thread reminded me: if you're attending protests at this point in the US, please use OpSec. buy a burner & put in 3-8 emergency contacts (and still leave it off in a faraday bag). wear a mask as long as it's still legal there. make sure a few trusted friends/relatives know you're going

@codyjohnston.bsky.social listening to the newest Even More News, just wanted to say that Rites Of Spring are definitely emo (Guy from RoS later joined Fugazi) - the term was coined for them and a few other 80s artists. the softening of emo happened over the 90s w/ bands like Sunny Day Real Estate

not a great video, but this is one of my favorite neighborhood squirrels (not sure which tree he lives in). he's easy to recognize with that one white paw, i can spot him from 30+ ft. very friendly & curious (& chubby, as should be 🙂)

one weird thing about spending months straight congested as hell is that when my nose is finally clear i become super-aware of how little i can smell things usually. and then i spend hours wondering what various smells are/if they are normal

the sound of snow crunching under squirrel paws while they ate this morning made me much happier than it should have. definitely giggled a little. also there were 5 small birds waiting on the patio, guess they realized i was later than normal today (usual feeding time is around sunrise)

the reason i think it was massive? well, besides the new smells, the pressure levels in my head dropped so much that my right eye was twitching for a few minutes as it re-adjusted after it came loose.

this smell is something my memory pings as a "chemical" one, maybe hydrogen peroxide?
i experience so many IRL body horror moments from my health issues, they usually come with some bonus random weirdness. last night, some sort of (seemingly massive, possibly very old) blood clot dislodged from my sinuses & now i keep smelling something familiar that i can't place. driving me nuts 🫤

i just matched on a dating app with a woman who has a pet squirrel. hopefully she's fine with the fact that i'm only looking for friends because i want to meet this squirrel

snow has finally melted a bit so i got to watch 6 squirrels & the baby rabbit run around in the backyard a little

one of my friends visited this weekend & i befriended a dog at a vintage clothing shop. sadly, everything cool was out of my price range but a used game/movie/music store had blu ray copies of Dark City, It: Chapter 2, & Shoot Em Up, plus Far Cry 5 & Dragon Age Inquisition all for under $25 total

while i haven't released anything new for a while, i have released a ton of music that's available at e-s-c.bandcamp.com . it's all VERY cheap, the whole 40-release discography (i removed stuff) is just $4. Anything helps, being disabled in the US is expensive & bandcamp doesn't take a cut today

sadly no animal friends the last two days, there's at least a foot of snow so they're sticking to the trees (or burrows, in the case of chipmunks & rabbits). can't blame them, i'm not going outside either

only got a few photos, was too busy watching. had at least 7 squirrels (lost track), 2 rabbits, 2 cardinals, a blue jay, & a bunch of smaller birds come for food this morning. one of the squirrels was about to come inside, had to waive it away since i didn't have an almond in my hand for him lol

my neck has cracked 5 times just while laying down this last half hour. the smallest movements are shifting things back into place tonight, not sure why but i'll take it. just wish i knew so i could repeat it, my pain levels are so much better the rare times my neck is (mostly) aligned. nvm, it's 6x

does anyone else sometimes find a phone # in their contacts with no memory of who the person is? sorry Amanda. i was probably supposed to call you, whoever you are

did anyone else's hometown have ongoing pranks done by entirely different people? there was maybe a decade where at least a handful of people (who didn't know each other afaik) who would throw or plant their marijuana seeds in the mayor's garden & front yard

it's funny watching people claim a movie isn't a flop when they think it barely made it's production budget back because they don't realize that studios often spend around the same amount on the marketing budget. production isn't the only cost for the industry

one of the squirrels trusts me now too. not surprised it was this one, it's always seemed extra friendly

short update: one of the chipmunks let me touch it's nose while i was feeding him yesterday. pretty sure they'd let me pet them
November 6, 2025 at 2:33 PM
the chipmunk also likes being hand-fed hazelnuts, didn't think she'd want to take them from my hand but she kept ignoring the ones i set on the stoop for her to grab the one i was holding

looks like i just get to hand-feed a chipmunk almost every morning now, makes me think she needs a name. suggestions?

successfully got one of the chipmunks to take almonds from my hand just now. honestly, one of my happiest moments in a long time. it feels really nice to be trusted that much by a tiny little animal
October 17, 2025 at 7:58 PM
the chipmunk that's been peeking her head inside the sliding door lately actually tried to cone inside today, had to wave her off really quick to stop her. would've been tough getting her back outside, the whole house is pretty open. also saw her try strawberries & apples today, very cute
