there’s a decent chance in the next couple of years i pivot away from game music and focus entirely on a career centered around pop music production in and around east asia, and it wouldn’t be too hard of a pivot given my skillset because i love doing it just as much as i do game music.

at the end of the day the most important thing to me is that i want to write music that i love and there’s a reality i have slowly come to accept that it’s entirely possibly i will just never land that ‘dream scoring gig’ that lets me write exactly what i dream.

It's funny because halo is like THE "controller shooter" game (decades of being xbox exclusive would do that) but I almost immediately moved to adopting M&KB when it came to MCC, I think the fact that fortnite is third person makes me treat it almost more like an action game?

road to the top doesn't have the production quality or the over-the-top setpieces but it spent a lot more time with the three protagonists and really gave you the space to learn and empathize with their struggles, which is something I think BNE falls flat on.

i love the shift towards crazy mobility and I honestly didn't mind the level design - people were telling me the open world is like bad but I didn't think so? i think distances easily traversable with the new movement options and the gunfights are well placed in the environments

probably helps that i'm a HL2 fan where a dedicated "hold down to go faster" button is like 80% of what makes source engine movement work well

i assume sprint means "burst of speed tied to a meter" and regular run is "hold down shift to go faster" in which i genuinely think i'm for the latter. it makes sense in this game because of the open-ended level design but not so much in the earlier ones--reach sprint was always just kinda there imo

there are games that are signficantly worse than the bungie titles but even at its worst, halo infinite is a really fucking good and engaging sci-fi shooter.

being a halo fan inherently feels like you need to praise bungie exclusively and dog on 343 at every step and while they've done a lot to warrant it, i GENUINELY feel like this is a series where there are no "bad games".
