For staff, why not a satyr, naga/lamia, demon (incubus perhaps?), nephilim, kitsune, goblin (local short king?), or gargoyles?

As for names, he looks like a Zediah, mepholis, Travin, rafi, or just Barry

The blaster master games are very good, but a little on the difficult side! Owl boy is very good as well if you haven’t played it.

Also HIGHHHLYYY recommend a robot named fight. Panzer paladin, ori and the blind forest, Shante games, valfaris, the messenger (hard game), are all great!
