Mine is usually along the lines of “Yes, this is not new information. Did you have a point or can I go back to what I was doing?”

Bad hard boiled eggs are as you described... "Proper" or even "good" hard boiled eggs aren't that bad... But it's deceptively hard to make a decent one to start with...

"Wanna eat 6 hard boiled eggs?" "Uh.. no." "What if I cut them in half, scooped their guts, mixed it with mayo, mustard and spices and then squirted it back in the hollowed out halves?" "... gimme 24 and keep your hands clear or risk losing them." ;)
