uh so after this i got several dms and a reply on here saying rain (rain.starts.quest, the owner of the server) has a history of supporting pedo stuff and i feel sick that she was ever my friend or that i helped with this server at all. its also making me reconsider how one of the harassments

hey everyone, i know i met quite a lot of you through rain's server/"rain world". it's been a hard decision to make but i'm going to step down from helping with it and leave. i'm sorry to everyone that i wasn't able to help when you had safety concerns or faced harassment in there.

i wasn't a moderator, this was my own choice. i helped with setting up the server (layout, emojis, roles etc) because i don't do well with the stress from being a mod. i had thought that there would be a moderation team once the initial setup was done. 2 people were added as mods, when around 70 people joined the server.

i had urged to not create ns-w channels (before a mod team was established) because they are hard to moderate and can bring some very serious issues. discord's official age verification was unwanted, so i figured out a way to do manual moderation where mods would need to check and verify every member through their intro.

this would at least be stating your age and linking your social account(s), but i ended up with the workload of "verifying" people this way, because people were starting to complain they hadn't been verified as no other mods were doing it. i had also seen people get verified without linking their bluesky to prove who they claimed to be.

there was someone sharing drawn p-rn of und-rage characters (with encouragement from other members.) i brought this up to the mod team, urging them that even if they personally didn't see anything wrong with it it still needs to be moderated. no action was taken.

people would discuss very triggering topics outside of the vent channel, such as interjecting when someone was

talking about a benign topic to say it reminded them of when they were r-ped. the only time action was taken regarding this, was when it had triggered one of the moderators personally.

i was harassed several times by members of the server as well. no action was taken in these cases even after repeatedly bringing up my discomfort to the mods, and how the harassment had sometimes progressed such as someone dming my friends. i was snapped at in general and vent channels by different members and no action was taken, in one of those cases it was treated as though it was a two sided thing and not one sided harassment while i asked the member in question to leave me alone. said member left, and then was invited back.

i would raise these issues, as well as ones i was dmed about by members of the server who mistook me for a mod, and no action was ever taken. it was a gamble on if rulebreaking members would leave on their own. usually i would receive a response a long while later saying "yeah that's weird" or "you're right i'm sorry that happened" and... leaving it at that because as far as i can tell, the mod team were afraid to take any action and upset people, but that's a necessity when running a public server.

most recently i raised an issue of a member st-lking and harassing another member, and again, the aggressor left on their own sometime after that, when i and others blocked them on here and rt the thread about their

actions. i then got a very upsetting response from a mod (almost a full day later) that it was a situation they were aware of, and had chosen not to take any action because they were friends with both people and didn't want to choose a side.

ultimately that was the final straw for me. i'm sorry to everyone who got hurt by people in there, who saw these things and were afraid to say anything. i tried. i haven't named any names because i think this is more of an issue of the entire server being unmoderated and unsafe rather than a problem with any specific person. two of the mods are my friends but i think that if it is to be a safe place then they need to find others who are willing to be active in the server and take action to enforce the rules when they are broken without being afraid of backlash or hurting people's feelings. that's just part of making sure a space is safe for everyone.
