a violent racist with a gun in a public park attacked a man who was preaching the bible.

he called the preacher the n-word several times ("Nick" in the captions), then points the gun at the preachers head.

the preacher grabs the gun, pushes the violent racist out of frame, and disarms him.

Now it's about getting back the "good stuff" they once had.

It's not a handout.

It's just getting back to baseline.

Prior scenarios in which democrats were trying to add *new* "good stuff" like expanding healthcare, "handouts" like food and housing support, etc.

Rural voters could do without that stuff - as you say, they would rather do without than think of themselves as taking a handout.

Not so, now.

Historically, true.

Perhaps less so, now?

Most of the "good stuff" democrats can offer rural voters amounts to fixing "bad stuff" trump has done to them.

Remove tariffs. Give back healthcare. Fix inflation. Reduce govt spending on billionaires.

This dynamic is different than prior scenarios.

Examples:
- our only rural medical center shut down
- my farmer retirement depends on medicare
- I can't afford real meat for family meals on my HVAC repairman wage
- half of our farm workforce can't work due to ICE
- I can't afford a used car to get to town, so I'm stuck at home unless I get a ride

Many of the Democratic policies that would benefit non-rural white voters would also benefit rural white voters.

Unifying those constituencies under the same "policy tent" is a solid strategy.

No need to prioritize them, just include them.

Well, because running those candidates might impact other elections.

If one Democratic candidate calls for other Democratic candidates to lose, that could be bad.

If one Democratic candidate takes positions that the rest of the party / voters can't agree on (or deliver on).

There are risks.
