I just watched sorcerer recently, too. Had never heard of it before. The original French version from the 50's is up on archive. Can't remember title right now.

Investable startup:
1. Copy an enormously profitable functioning system run by a despicable oligarch
2. Implement without the oligarch and ethical issues

It could be worth considering the idea that the groups most equipped to make the changes also earn more profit from pain and suffering than they might if the problems were solved. Poverty, and everything that goes along with it, is big business.
