This must feel extremely normal.

Everyone in Mudhoney has day jobs and they plan their tours around when the bassist can get time off (he's a nurse).

More fuel for the "Dadlessness" theory of male alienation and their search for a new papa figure wherever they may pop up.

What, like we're (and by we I mean every settled civilization in Mesopotamia, Asia, and Europe) gonna be dealing with these guys regularly for the next two millennia?! Sure, Adad-rabi, maybe next time lay off the qunnabu.

My experience is that southern Americans don't appreciate it because of all the messing around in their business the CIA has done, and to them it's an expression of the US as an oppressive power that sees itself as the only real embodiment of an America. I tend to acquiesce and avoid the argument.

Might start using "You are a coward for different reasons."

It's been amusing over the last decade plus to witness hyper-straight male aesthetics essentially become Tom of Finland.

Seriously! I know the internet never forgets, but has someone been documenting it/building an archive? There can't be a "return to democracy" without some kind of reckoning. Nuremberg for some, Truth and Reconciliation Commission for others.

It is kinda weird to hear there's a plant/warehouse on fire on the other side of town, have a hunch, then hear it belongs to a company that supplies parts to a weapons manufacturer that supplies Ukraine and be like "thought so." But, then, how far does it go before Verboten signs don't cut it?

Insane Clown President. Which, once spelled out, has been staring everyone in the face this entire time.

One (very un-pc) line from a German rap song from the early 00s always comes to mind with these type of guys. Loosely translated it goes "You always remind me of Joseph Goebbels. You act hard, but you're actually a [r-word]." (Goebbels had a clubfoot)

Definitely, and there are many more. It just often feels like solar is some silver bullet and any country implementing it, miles ahead. In reality, lots of countries with strong solar are huge polluters. More of a mind-set observation. Can't necessarily "simply" geoengineer our way out.

This was on TV with the sound off. I glanced up from what I was reading and, no joke, initially thought it was footage from a Mars rover.

It's exciting stuff, but if we're simultaneously pumping the world full of useless, cheap-ass plastic trash via Temu, Amazon, etc., or trash clothes via Shein, Primark, it feels like being on methadone while smoking crack.

In Brazil, they had to ask people to conserve energy. Not because of shortages, but because households were feeding so much energy back into the grid through solar that they were crashing it.

Maybe she was disguised as John Oliver?

If it's any consolation (for all of us/humanity), kings and emperors have been trying to curate their legacies that way for millenia, and we are still fully aware of how full of shit they are thousands of years later.

First rule of Nazi knowledge club is "No vacation days!"

I know Nazi comparisons are tired, but the most ardent support came from youth who only knew that world growing up and were educated in it. At the same time, resistance groups such as the White Rose began as aspiring Hitler Youth who then saw through the propaganda and began organizing.
