It doesn’t sound like they are though to me. It sounds like the artists that they do have are simply using GenAI as a tool for themselves.

That stage isn’t being automated. It’s actual artists using a tool, not studious replacing the artists with the tool. They’re hiring more artists, that’s the pipeline. I do not get the grips. This is probably the ONLY role AI should have, to assist labor rather than replace it.

They have 23 purely concept artists and are hiring more, that’s a LOT. If the artists are the ones using AI for pre concept pre storyboard, I don’t see a single issue with that. It’s like being mad they use an old picture of a bird as reference instead of hiring a photographer to take a new picture.
