Sometimes that work means losing weight - sometimes it means gaining weight - sometimes it means working out and changing how you carry your weight - sometimes that means changing what you eat so that your weight doesn't cause health problems, but only you can decide how best to live in your body.

Having “chasers” breaks that assumption of respecting boundaries. The name for the identifier breaks that respect for boundaries.

identifiers take time to change. We just gotta keep using the language and talking about it to change the mindset towards fatness in the cultures we take part in.

Their attraction will change the friends they keep and communities they take part in. And it’s fine to share that, but it always has to be built on the underlying assumption of everyone respecting people’s boundaries to be the size they want to be and to love the size they love.

I know plenty of people of every size that also like fat bodies. From 110lb twinks to 640lb hogs (their chosen identifier). Loving fat bodies is no different than loving thin bodies. Everyone can do it. People admiring fat bodies are likely going to identify w/ that shared attraction & admiration

My thoughts on the use of admirer would be that it applies to anyone and not exclusively to thin people. The idea that a thin group gets a special word sits wrong with me. Everyone who likes fat bodies can be an admirer regardless of size. Because every sized person can be attracted to fat people.

Admirer is better. But we’d have to use it only to refer to non-bears who treat bears and chubs with the respect they deserve in order to address the issue. And by consequence, not let it be used to apply to the men who objectify those same bigger guys without consent.

That’s a hard one without either developing new language or the community at large setting new standards. Anytime I hear someone refer to themselves as a chaser I cant help but cringe. I’ve always hated it applied to me even though I would technically qualify. People shouldn’t be chased. It’s gross.

I feel like “chasers” in bear and fat centered spaces holds the same space as “men” in woman centered and most straight spaces. In so far as they are both types of people who consider other people’s bodies objects to be enjoyed and impose danger and no consent to the people around them.

Filling yourself with food, slamming that dopamine button on repeat - your mind can't think of anything else. The more you eat the more pleasure it brings you. The more pleasure you feel, the more you want. The more you want, the more you eat. A viscously repeating cycle of gluttony and ecstasy.
