Christmas beetles have been in major decline due to climate change and habitat loss, but were once extremely numerous. Seeing such a large number was like stepping foot in the past.

Emerald tip beetle for #InverteFest! After seeing only 2 Christmas beetles ever prior to 2024, I was stunned last night to find an enormous swarm of emerald tip beetles - maybe 1000 in total - on trees in my garden. This is not something I thought I would ever see.
